REMINDER: Monday and Tuesday (November 25-26) are half-days for students as parent-teacher conferences are scheduled in the afternoon. Dismissal times are as follows: 11 a.m. Townsend Elementary 11:15 a.m.: MS/HS Please note: Bag lunches are available for all students on those two days. Twenty-one Walton CSD students went on a trip to SUNY Broome on Tuesday as part of the Express program. On the trip, students had the chance to listen to presentations about: - Admissions - Criminal justice and emergency services - Health sciences - Financial aid - Athletics - Student success coaching - Culinary and hospitality - Computer science Students also were taken on a tour of the campus and had lunch provided by SUNY Transfer Partnerships. #WeAreWalton #WaltonCSD #WaltonPride

During a Career Day event at Townsend Elementary in May 2023, local elected officials were showing students about local government and the ability to vote for an elected official to represent their community. Walton Town Supervisor Joseph Cetta and then Walton Town Clerk Ronda Williams held a mock election where students were able to vote on a piece of playground equipment they would like to have and use at Townsend Elementary. The choices presented were a rock wall, bike track, or a zip line. In a landslide victory with 223 votes, the zip line won. Recently, the zip line was installed at Townsend by Walton CSD’s O&M Department, and students have been enjoying it. Funding for the project came from the Mattern Fund through the Community Foundation for South Central New York, the O’Connor Foundation, the Upland Center, and the Townsend PTA using funds raised through the box tops program. Cetta and Williams also recently visited the school during a recess period to see the kids enjoying the project, and Williams even had a turn to test it out! Congratulations to Walton CSD Addy Trimbell, who signed her national letter of intent to play field hockey at Division II D'Youville next fall! Such an amazing accomplishment! #WeAreWalton #WaltonCSD #WaltonPride

As part of college application month, 35 Walton CSD seniors submitted a college application. Each senior who applied to at least one college was entered for a chance to win a gift card sponsored by the Walton MS/HS PTSA. The winners were Aurora Siniscalchi and Jacob Morse! The Walton CSD Speech and Debate team won its first tournament of the season this past weekend, earning a victory at Mount Markham. Ema Venckute led the way for Walton, earning a first-place finish in dramatic interpretation. Paige LeBarge finished second in declamation, and third-place finishes from Eilis Greene (original oratory) and Lia Kane (declamation). Great job by everybody! The middle school held a pumpkin decorating contest last week and the winners were as follows: Rylee Mead (seventh grade), Logan Gregory Jr. (eighth grade), and Michael Sanford (sixth grade).
