Mack Middle School

Students in Brynne Hoover-Daye’s Disney Story Exploration class have been busy this semester. The elective is in its second year and is a class students can sign up if they have room in their schedules. This semester, 15 students from seventh and eighth grades took part, with some being in their second year of taking the class. The students this year began by working with the story/movie Star Wars: A New Hope. They ended the unit by writing scripts for talk shows in which they played the characters and were interviewed about their lives. They also challenged Middle School Principal Adam Hoover to a Star Wars trivia battle. Mr. Hoover won. Following this section, they moved on to the movie Encanto. One of the projects completed with this movie was creating a pair of Crocs that fit the personality of one of the characters. As a reward for winning the homecoming spirit week, sixth-grade students had the opportunity to use an antique cider press.
