Seventh graders recently competed in this year’s Chemist Celebrare Earth Week (CCEW) illustrated poem contest, which was open to K-12 students. It was a chance to create and showcase original illustrated poems, incorporating a scientific concept related to the theme.
Students learned about glaciers in science with Miss Fowler, wrote a limerick poem in English with Ms. Lattimer, and illustrated their poem with Mrs. Fassler.
Please see a few of the pieces students created!
Nice work!

Students in eighth-grade ELA recently held a poetry tasting, led by student teacher Katie Cuomo. Students had the opportunity to explore different poetry styles and authors. They had to pick three different poems/authors that they felt drawn to, or resonated with. The room also was set up with flower vases and snacks to give it a café feel. The students were engaged in the activity, which was put together to expose the students to poetry. Well done!

A message from the Walton Central School District about the anticipated weather in the coming days:
1) Please be sure that students are dressed properly in multiple layers.
2) If your student is a walker, or is dropped off at one of the schools, please time your student’s arrival time: 7:30 a.m. for breakfast at the middle school/high school only, and 7:45 a.m. for all other arrivals.
3) For those of you with children who ride the bus, we ask that you keep your child inside either a warm vehicle or home until the bus has stopped so that we can ensure students are not waiting outside for a long period of time.
As always, we thank you for your cooperation in keeping our students healthy and safe.
