The Crush Connects program is well underway this summer! This year’s theme is “authenticity.” Students are exploring how to be their true selves, all while having fun doing it.

The program’s purpose is to foster connections between students as they build leadership, communication, and healthy coping skills!

Sixth graders in Makerspace fourth quarter recently raced their wind-powered cards.

The cars were designed in Tinkercad, and made using the Makerspace’s Glowforge, Cricuts, and 3D printers. The winning car was by Kylee Roach, traveling 32 feet, 9 inches. That distance was the tops for the 2024-25 school year, and just. foot shy of the all-time middle school record!

Seventh graders recently competed in this year’s Chemist Celebrare Earth Week (CCEW) illustrated poem contest, which was open to K-12 students. It was a chance to create and showcase original illustrated poems, incorporating a scientific concept related to the theme. Students learned about glaciers in science with Miss Fowler, wrote a limerick poem in English with Ms. Lattimer, and illustrated their poem with Mrs. Fassler. Please see a few of the pieces students created! Nice work! #WeAreWalton #WaltonCSD #WaltonPride

Students in eighth-grade ELA recently held a poetry tasting, led by student teacher Katie Cuomo. Students had the opportunity to explore different poetry styles and authors. They had to pick three different poems/authors that they felt drawn to, or resonated with. The room also was set up with flower vases and snacks to give it a café feel. The students were engaged in the activity, which was put together to expose the students to poetry. Well done! #WeAreWalton #WaltonCSD #WaltonPride
