Students in Sal Salvia’s construction class recently finished building the annual shed. This year, the shed was made for Arlene Utter, a former student of Salvia’s. Utter purchased all the materials for the shed, which is 8 feet by 12 feet. The shed has architectural style shingles with a Gable roof style. It has a 5-foot double door and a sliding window on the back wall. The class used 1/2-inch plywood for the siding. They also painted the shed. The shed was built inside the shop because of the cold winter months. This year, 30 students took part to build the shed, as well as the model of the shed. Some students mentioned that the model shed that they take home was more difficult to build than the real shed. Students who finished the model sheds built other projects, such as baseball bats, a fishing net, cool boxes, a small tool shed for Mr. Salvia, and a bedroom shelf. All students also used a touter to put their name into a wood sign that was mounted inside the shed. Students in Sal Salvia’s manufacturing class recently completed the annual project of creating guitars. During the annual project, the class worked in a manufacturing-style setup to make the pieces for the guitar. When that aspect was complete, they were divided up by choosing a number to find out which pieces each student would get to do for the final assembly and finish their own personal guitar. Always a wonderful project! Well done! Pictured are: Front: Mr. Salvia. A message from the Walton Central School District about the anticipated weather in the coming days: 1) Please be sure that students are dressed properly in multiple layers. 2) If your student is a walker, or is dropped off at one of the schools, please time your student’s arrival time: 7:30 a.m. for breakfast at the middle school/high school only, and 7:45 a.m. for all other arrivals. 3) For those of you with children who ride the bus, we ask that you keep your child inside either a warm vehicle or home until the bus has stopped so that we can ensure students are not waiting outside for a long period of time. As always, we thank you for your cooperation in keeping our students healthy and safe. #WeAreWalton #WaltonCSD #WaltonPride

Earlier this year, a group of students from the Walton Central School District participated in the Hamilton Education Program through the Gilder Lehrman Institute. Students had to research primary sources on the founding era of American history. Next, they created an original piece of work (poem, song, monologue, play) based on their research. Once the students completed and submitted their work to the Gilder Lehrman Institute, they were then able to travel to New York City to watch the Tony Award winning musical Hamilton. Teacher Marcia Albrecht, who is a member of the institute, applied for and received the opportunity for Walton CSD. #WeAreWalton #WaltonCSD #WaltonPride

For the seventh consecutive year, the Walton Central School District partnered with SUNY Oneonta’s Giving Tree program to provide holiday gifts to five of our families in the district. Additionally, the high school held a food drive in which clubs, classes, and staff contributed 244 food items. Drama Club/GSA/Speech and Debate collected the most items and will receive a pizza party sponsored by student council. The middle school held a household/hygiene drive and the seventh-grade team collected the most items and received a donut party sponsored by the middle school SEL committee. We are very grateful to everybody for their generous donations to make the holidays a little more special for our WCS families! #WeAreWalton #WaltonCSD #WaltonPride

For the 22nd consecutive year, the Walton Central School District teamed with Delaware Opportunities for a gift drive to help area children. This year, the drive covered 40 children throughout Delaware County. The National Honor Society organized and sponsored the drive this year, and gifts were donated by students and numerous faculty and staff members from the elementary, middle, and high schools. A list of families is given to the school ahead of time, though identities are not known. Gifts remain in the county, however. The only information given to the school is age, gender, and sizes for each child, as well as a list of wanted items or interests. The ages of children this year ranged from nine months to 17 years. #WeAreWalton #WaltonCSD #WaltonPride
