Seventh-grader Noah Scofield won the fifth annual George F. Mack Middle School Connect 4 Tournament! The finals, held as part of the middle school’s recent Wellness Day, featured a championship showdown between Noah and sixth-grader Jaczen Garone. Grades held championships. Liam Bartlett earned the eighth-grade championship and the runner up was Landen Branigan. Runner ups in sixth and seventh grade were Xander Merwin and Anthony Salvia, respectively. In November, the AVP held its basic workshop for students in grades 8-12. Students formed positive connections by participating in experiential activities that focused on building conflict resolution, teambuilding, leadership, and communication skills. In November, sixth graders in Makerspace first quarter raced their wind-powered cars. The cars were designed in Tinkercad, and made using the Glowforge, Cricuts, and 3D printers. Elijah Williams’ car traveled the longest distance at 22 feet, 8 inches. Addy Wood and Elanor White finished second and third, respectively. #WeAreWalton #WaltonCSD #WaltonPride

The middle school student council recently held its annual Heart of the Catskills Humane Society supply drive. Student council members, middle school students, faculty, and staff were asked to bring in donations to be dropped off at the shelter in Delhi. Just before Thanksgiving, middle school advisor classes participated in a “hide a turkey” activity. Classes worked together to choose how to best disguise their turkey. The students then voted on their favorite from each grade level. Eighth graders had their adventure recently, going to the Uplands Center. While there, students participated in an art project where they made coasters, cooking and nutrition activity where they made a fresh pasta salad and strawberry oatmeal smoothies.
