Peter DeBrock is showing off his bicycle “Different,” which is part of the transportation class custom bicycle project. This was made using parts from four different bikes. Peter designed and fabricated it, then took it apart, painted it and greased all areas. The bike has a 24x1.95 front tire, a 16x1.75 back tire, BMX handlebars, an adjustable seat post, a back-rim frame fender, and a 35-inch chain. His favorite part is the front wheel, and the hardest part of the build was making the frame. Excellent job! #WeAreWalton #WaltonCSD #WaltonPride

Joe Bolster is showing off his bike as part of the transportation class custom bicycle project. The mountain bar handlebars are his favorite part of the design because of the style. The bike was built using parts from a few bicycles. Joe added a larger chain sprocket, and he extended the frame. He also used a front fork from a larger frame. The bike has 20-inch wheels and he calls it “Shadow Rider.” Nice job! #WeAreWalton #WaltonCSD #WaltonPride

Elijah Jones is the next creation in the transportation class custom bicycle project. This bike is called “Yucko,” named after a famous clown. Elijah said the bike fits him well and the paint job is his favorite part of the build. The bike was put together using parts from seven bikes! The wheel size is 12.5 x 1.75, and it has a chain length of 63 inches. The seat also has a quick adjustment in two places on the bike. Awesome work! #WeAreWalton #WaltonCSD #WaltonPride

The next bike in the transportation class project of creating custom bicycles comes from Logan Beardslee. His tricycle creation is called “Extend.” He said the seat post addition is his favorite part of the design, because he was able to attach it to a more comfortable seat. The bike was built using parts from three bicycles. Because of the front pedals, it has forward and reverse, as well as a 12-inch solid wheel in the front, and two solid 7-inch wheels in the back. Another nice piece of work! #WeAreWalton #WaltonCSD #WaltonPride

We continue the transportation class project of building custom bicycles, with our first student piece. This is William Neske’s bike, which he calls Harley. The handlebars are his favorite part of the bike. This was made using parts from three bicycles. The bike has coaster brakes, an 18-inch wheel in the front and a 20-inch wheel in the back. Great work! #WeAreWalton #WaltonCSD #WaltonPride

Students in Sal Salvia’s transportation class are building custom bicycles this year. They are utilizing parts from used bicycles for their own custom builds. During class, they are learning the parts of a bike, and how to take it apart and reassemble it into a new design. Tool-use safety, mig welding, metal work, and bicycle safety are also topics being covered. The assignment is to build a custom bike out of available bicycles. Over the course of the next several weeks, we will be showcasing the students as they finish their bikes. For the first, we are showing you Mr. Salvia’s “example” design. From then on out, we will be showcasing the students work. Mr. Salvia’s was made of from parts of five bicycles. He designed and fabricated it, then student William Neske took it apart, painted it, and greased all areas. The bike has a 24-inch front form, BMX handlebars, a 59-inch chain, adjustable seat post with a rim frame support, 16x2 tires, and an extended kickstand, which is Mr. Salvia’s favorite part. He calls the bike “Rusty Gold.” Keep watching our Facebook and website for more of these fantastic creations! #WeAreWalton #WaltonCSD #WaltonPride

Congratulations to our qualifiers in track! The Section Four Class D meet was held this week. Top-three finishers earned a spot in the Section Four state qualifier. Ransom Dutcher qualified in three events – winning the 400 (51.66 seconds), placing second in the 200 (23.71) and being part of the third-place 4x100 relay team. Also on that team is JR Allen, David Gatchalian, and Noah Sovocool. They crossed in 47.17 seconds, their fastest of the year. Though not qualifiers, the following student-athletes made it to the podium, each placing fourth: Isabella Yetto in the girls 3,000, Eve Foster in the girls discus, and Max Dutcher in the boys shot put. Good luck to this group of student-athletes next week at state qualifiers and congratulations to all track and field athletes on a great season! #WeAreWalton #WaltonCSD #WaltonPride
