The annual Pennies from Heaven fundraiser collected 661 pounds of pennies this year.

Held throughout the month of February at Townsend Elementary, the total should come out to approximately $1,100, which is donated to UHS Delaware Valley Hospital.

This year’s winning class is Robin Wagner’s first-grade class, which collected 195 pounds! The winning class receives a pizza and ice cream party from the hospital.

Winning classrooms (listed by teacher and grade) at the each grade level were:

- Betsy Stinson (kindergarten)

- Beth Core (first)

- Tina Ammon (second)

- Angela Bayne (third)

- Ian Clerkin (fourth)

- Jacqueline Smith (fifth)

Each of those classes will receive an ice cream party from the hospital.

The program, which began in 1998, finished its 25th year. Over that time, Townsend Elementary has raised 24,818 pounds, which comes out to more than $40,100 donated.
