High school students in the Foods 1 class recently teamed up to compete in Cupcake Wars.

Four teams took part in the competition, with staff members serving as judges.

The week-long project in Emily Pattison’s class involved constructing a display, choosing a theme, making rhe cupcakes, and filling and frosting to present to the judges.

The winning team, for their Halloweenie theme, was Larissa Hulse, Mackenzie Dutton, and Madison Greene. Their vanilla cupcakes were decorated with orange, purple, and green frosting with a chocolate ganache filling,

Second place went to the team of Aiden Chambers, Jordan Covey, Madison Armstrong and Colton Lum, who chose Valentine’s Day as a theme and made vanilla cupcakes with pink vanilla frosting and a homemade strawberry syrup filling.

Third place went to Anthonie Mirabal, T.J. Tweedie, Xander Davies, and Cadence Clark, who’s St. Patrick’s Day inspired theme included a chocolate cupcake with green maple frosting and filling, with bacon bits on top.

The final team of Lucas Robinson, Logan Aubin, Gideon Backus-Wildey, and Garrett Day went with Easter as a theme and made a carrot cake cupcake with cream cheese frosting.
