Walton Central School District students took part in the second “If Gravestones Could Talk” living history tour at the Walton Cemetery earlier this fall.

Eight stories about prominent Walton people were told by the students. English teacher Jennifer Bartlett coordinated the students, and the Walton

Historical Society provided research. The students then adapted the facts to portray the story to the crowd. Many of the costumes for the event were from items within the Walton CSD musical department.

The students (and those they portrayed) were: Dominick Siniscalchi (Grant Rogers), Isaac Vesterfelt (Dan Nichols), Caden LeBarge (Dr. James Holley), Molly McClenon (Gabriel North), Cara Gielskie (Edmond More), Gage Lambert (Andrus Crabbe), Anthony Cetta (Joseph Cetta) and Meyer Little (William Austin).

The top hat worn by LeBarge for Dr. Holley was the doctor’s actual hat. Also, Cetta had the chance to portray his great grandfather.
Nearly 250 people attended the event, which featured a lot of research and props from the Walton Historical Society.
