Voters in the Walton Central School District approved the proposed 2019-20 budget of $21,745,814 on Tuesday.
 
The budget had an increase of 4.22 percent, with an estimated tax levy increase of 2 percent. 
 
“I want to thank the community for supporting the budget and the school,” Interim Superintendent Larry Thomas said. “This budget allows us to keep moving forward in our mission of giving the best education possible to our children.”
 
The final vote for the budget was:
Yes: 361
No: 170
 
Voters also elected Kevin S. Charles, Marilynn C. Lewis, and Mirranda MacDonald to Board of Education seats. The final tally for the BOE election was as follows:
 
Kevin S. Charles: 447
Marilynn C. Lewis: 388
Mirranda MacDonald: 237
Dotti Howe: 223
 
Voters also (approved/denied) a proposition for a Capital Reserve Fund, with the maximum amount of the fund to be $8,000,000.
 
The final tally on that vote was: 
Yes: 369
No: 155
 
Voters also (approved/denied) a proposition to lease three new buses for five years, at a net cost of no greater than $280,500.
 
The final tally on that vote was:
Yes: 353
No: 173
 
Also decided was the William B. Ogden Free Library budget. That was passed by a final tally of 349-179. The library budget is voted on via the school budget because of state law, however, it is not part of the district budget.
