WCS to have extra bus pickups on Thursday, January 31

The Walton Central School District is concerned about the severity of the cold temperatures and wind chills on Thursday, January 31. With that in mind, the district would like to give a few important points to help insure your child’s safety.

First, please be sure that your child is well-protected against the bitter cold and dressed appropriately for the conditions.

For those of you with children who ride the bus, we ask that you keep your child inside until the bus has fully stopped in front of your house.

For those in the village who have children who walk to school, we are offering the following pickup points for Thursday, January 31.

  • 7:30 a.m.: at Griswold/Benton Ave.
  • 7:35 a.m.: at Walton pool parking
  • 7:40 a.m.: at the Baptist Church on Platt St.
  • 7:45 a.m.: at West End Supply/Mead St. corner
  • 7:50 a.m.: at Williams St./Stockton Ave. corner

If you are taking advantage of these pickup points, we highly encourage you to protect your child by keeping them with you in the car until the bus has stopped and the red lights are flashing.

Please note that this is for Thursday, January 31. Any future pickups will be announced on a case-by-case basis.

The map of the pickup spots, as well as important information, is attached below as a PDF.
