Dear Walton School Community,

As many of you may now be aware, we were informed that Mr. Eric Scofield, one of our math teachers, was arrested on February 15, 2026 related to allegations of inappropriate conduct with students.

Please know that the safety and well-being of our students are our absolute highest priorities. Mr. Scofield has already been placed on administrative leave and is not permitted on campus.

We understand that this news is distressing and may bring up a range of emotions. We want you to know that you are not alone.

  • For Students: Our counselors will be available when school resumes for anyone who needs a safe space to talk or process this news.

  • For Staff: Support resources are available through the Employee Assistance Program or you can reach out to our business/human resources office for other options.

While we understand you may have many questions, our priority is the privacy of all individuals involved, students and adults. In addition, this is an active legal matter and an ongoing investigation. We will continue to cooperate fully with law enforcement.

To protect the integrity of that process, the school cannot provide any further details at this time.

If you have any information pertaining to the allegations or situation, please feel free to reach out to a trusted counselor, administrator, or supervisor, or directly to the Walton Police Department, as it is an ongoing investigation.

We are committed to maintaining a safe learning environment and will share updates with you as we are legally permitted to do so. Thank you for supporting one another during this difficult time. We are Walton Strong.

Respectfully,

Teresa Glavin
Superintendent of Schools
