The Walton Central School District has named three ambassadors for the 2026 Hugh O’Brian Youth (HOBY) Leadership Conference.
Sophomores Sabrina Avolio, Emma Kingsbury, and Anika Fassler have been named the ambassadors for the conference, which will be held June 5-7 at the University at Albany.
The students are able to attend the conference thanks to financial contributions from Student Services and the Walton Lion’s Club.
The three were selected after submitting essays on “What is leadership” and an interview process of highly qualified sophomores.
HOBY is a leadership opportunity founded by former actor O’Brian in 1958. The organization’s mission is to inspire youth from around the world to pursue lives of leadership and service. Since its beginning, more than 445,000 students have participated in leadership seminars. HOBY has programs in all 50 states, as well as 20 countries.
Events at the conference included participation in informative workshops and activities with other high school ambassadors from across the state, as well as community service projects.
