Class of 2026 being accepted by SUNY Broome

SUNY Broome has accepted Walton’s Class of 2026.

For the second year, the Walton Central School District has partnered with SUNY Broome for the College Express Program.

The program offers seniors at O’Neill High School the opportunity to be instantly accepted into SUNY Broome. The event, held Tuesday in the high school auditorium, jump started a series of informational sessions to introduce students to SUNY Broome over the coming months.

“We are excited to continue this partnership with SUNY Broome and expand opportunities for our students,” Walton High School Principal Art Loomis said. “This pathway allows students to take the next step toward their future, and our Student Services Department continues to work hard to maintain this partnership. This simplifies the college application process and opens the doors to higher education that some of our students may have thought was out of reach.”

The partnership between Walton and Broome allows all graduating seniors to be instantly admitted to Broome, should they choose to attend the college.

The event Tuesday allowed students to fill out an application, hear about what Broome has to offer, as well as to be recognized and accepted into the college.

Throughout the remainder of the year, representatives from the college will return to WCS to provide an overview of the school’s academic divisions, financial aid, and host career workshops to help students map out how SUNY Broome can support their career goals, and more.

In November, students will also have the opportunity to visit SUNY Broome and see and hear first-hand about some of the programs that are offered.

“This is such a great opportunity for the graduating seniors of Walton Central School District,” Superintendent Teresa Glavin said. “We appreciate this partnership with SUNY Broome and I am grateful our counselors work with their staff to make this program accessible to all of our students, especially because this acceptance program offers so many class and/or degree opportunities throughout each graduate's career future.”
