Voters in the Walton Central School District went to the polls Tuesday, May 20 and approved the proposed 2025-26 budget of $26,028,866. Because the district went over the tax cap, a super majority of 60 percent plus one vote was needed to pass the budget.

The final budget vote was:

  • Yes: 233

  • No: 105

“We once again want to thank the Walton Central School District community for supporting the budget,” Walton Superintendent Dr. Michael MacDonald said. “The continued support of our students and staff is highly appreciated. This budget will allow us to maintain our programming and give our students the best opportunities.”

Voters also passed a proposition to allow the district to purchase up to three (3) school buses at a cost not to exceed $520,000. The votes were:

  • Yes: 227

  • No: 106

Voters also elected three members to the Board of Education for three-year terms. The final tally was:

  • Allison D. Rigas: 281

  • Michelle L. Bowker: 245

  • Bruce E. Dolph: 205

  • Ryan J. Huber: 156

Also decided was the William B. Ogden Free Library budget. That was passed by a final tally of 210-128. The library budget is voted on via the school budget because of state law; however, it is not part of the district budget.
