Students in Sal Salvia’s construction class have once again built a shed for a community member.

This year, the class built a shed for Joan Vanloan, a retired teacher at Downsville who substitutes at Walton. She purchased all of the materials to build the shed, which is an 8x12 structure. It has a three-tab shingles with a gable roof style. A three-foot door and a window are on the front wall. There is 1/2-inch plywood for siding.

The shed this year was built in the shop because of the winter months. This year, 30 students took part in building the actual shed, as well as the model of the shed. Some students mentioned that the model was actually more difficult to build than the real shed.
