Townsend Elementary celebrated Red Ribbon Week at the end of October with several events.

Red Ribbon Week is a national week to help teach students to live drug free and be “too smart to start.”

Students were given coloring pages promoting a healthy life without drugs, and a display with the artwork hangs in the hallway. Art teacher Lori Cucciarre made red ribbons to display in the school windows for the week.

Also, Jean Maxwell’s fifth-grade class all had red bracelets to wear, reminding them to stay drug free. Four fifth-grade students – Jayden Wright, Noah Scofield, Madison Hoffman, and Callan Neale, worked to put a message on the driveway fence and the full grade took a photo with it.

Students and staff also wore red on the Friday of the week to get the message “Celebrate life. Live drug free” out.
