The Walton Central School District music department will present the Broadway musical “Little Women” at 7 p.m. Friday, April 1, and Saturday, April 2.

The production features Sophia Piro as Jo, Emma Yakalis as Beth, Julia Sousa as Meg, and Sariah Vesterfelt as Amy. The part of Marmee will be played by Adara Allen, Laurie is played by Caden LeBarge, and Professor Bhaer portrayed by Jorge DelPino.

Louisa May Alcott’s beloved story of the adventures of the four March sisters is brought to musical life in Little Women. The Civil War is in full swing, and the March sisters — Meg, the oldest and a romantic, the spirited and tomboyish Jo, sweet and loving Beth, and irascible, playful Amy -- live in Concord, Massachusetts with their Marmee, while their father is on the battlefield.

Filled with adventure (both lived and imagined), heartbreak, and a deep sense of hope, the struggle of these “Little Women” to find their own voices mirrors the growing pains of a young America. With buoyant, joyful melodies, memorable characters, and a big-hearted message, Little Women reminds us that “sometimes when you dream, your dreams come true.”

Senior citizens are invited to attend the full dress rehearsal at 6 p.m. Thursday, March 31. This performance is free to senior citizens only.

Tickets for the weekend shows are available at the door $8 for adults and $6 for students. Tickets can be purchased ahead of time (a $1 discount is purchased in advance) at Molto Espresso, Walton Music House, and from the Walton CSD high school front desk.
