In late October, the Walton CSD middle and high schools celebrated Unity Day.

Students wore orange on the day to show support against bullying, and to be united for kindness, acceptance, and inclusion. The event was sponsored by the Gender Sexualities Alliance (GSA).

Students were engaged in classroom discussions about what students, peers, educators, families and community members can do to help students feel accepted, included, and to reduce bullying.

Staff and students were asked to commit to one action they will take to make a difference. These actions were written down on orange stars to symbolize “when we unite together, we shine.”

The stars were displayed throughout the school as a continuous reminder to students that together they can do their part in creating a school without bullying.
