From the Superintendent

June 24, 2021
Dear Walton Central School District community,
As the 2020-21 school year comes to a close, we celebrate the success of our students and staff and how well they responded to everything they went through this year. With every end, however, there’s a beginning. We applaud the Class of 2021 and wish them the best, but we also flip the calendar and look toward the future.
Construction work at Walton CSD is slated to begin Monday, June 28, and scheduled to end Friday, August 27. Work will be ongoing at all buildings this summer. Please be mindful of construction areas when on campus. At the high school/middle school, the back parking lot will be closed. This work is part of the Capital Project voters passed in May.
This summer’s projects include:
Middle School/High School:
  • Full roof replacement
Townsend Elementary:
  • New storefront system and flood gates to help protect against floods entering the building
  • Removal and infill of doors and low-lying windows to limit openings on exterior facing walls and increase protection against flooding
  • Infilling and raising the height of current louvers to limit low-lying openings
  • Mechanical renovations
  • Main entrance improvements: including a redesigned entryway to meet ADA requirements, and increased security for improved access to the building.
If there are any changes, we will announce them on our website and social media.
