In the event of inclement weather, the Walton Central School District will assess the situation and decide whether the school will be delayed or closed. Typically, the decision is announced by 6:15 a.m.
The district will utilize delays of two or three hours. A delayed opening will mean adjusted schedules (please see below).
The Walton Central School District’s standard delay is two hours. However, if weather or road conditions suggest the need for a longer delay, WCS may call a three-hour delay. Please listen to announcements carefully, or check the school website/social media.
Several resources are available to confirm the status of school events in the case of inclement weather or emergencies.
The SchoolMessenger Notification system is used in the event of a closing or delay. The school website provides a banner across the top of our page when we have important alerts or notices. The school’s Facebook page and Twitter account will also be updated with the information.
When in doubt, please rely on official school accounts for announcements.
