WCS teacher takes part in James Madison Legacy Project
Teachers in Albany for James Madison Legacy Project

Walton teacher Marcia Albrecht was recently chosen to take part in the James Madison Project, which is through the New York State Bar Association. Albrecht was one of about 30 educators from across the state to take part.

The James Madison Legacy Project is a three-year nationwide initiative of the Center for Civic Education and aims to do the following:
  • Increase the number of highly effective teachers of high-needed students through the professional development of 2,025 teachers;
  • Increase the achievement of at least 202,500 students in attaining state standards in civic and government;
  • Serve the self-identified professional development needs of a minimum of more than 500 participating schools with significant concentrations of high-need students throughout the United States.
Albrecht, who is a social studies at the high school, went to Albany in late June for this and spend time in the federal courthouse, learning about constitutional law and its applications from federal judges and law professors.
