Jump Rope for Heart raises more than $6,000 for American Heart Association
Students at Townsend Elementary School again participated in the Jump Rope for Heart Fundraiser. The Annual event raised $6229.05 this year for the American Heart Association and has a total of 125 participants this year.

The competition for the top fundraiser was tight this year with fifth grade Olivia Hulse raising the most money with $280. Lane Terry, a first grader finished as the second highest with $275 and Carter McNamera, a fourth grader rounded out the top three with $250 raised.

The Jump Rope for Heart program teaches students and families how to take care of their hearts and how to make a difference. Through the program, students learned about the importance of the hearth, how it works and how to take care of it. That was done through classroom exercises and educational information.

During the multi-day event, students went through several exercise stations, which included jumping rope, hula hoops, sit-ups and push-ups, Skip-it, and others.

Students in grades 1-5 collected pledges and earned thank you gifts for reaching certain levels.

Other top fundraising students include fifth grade Landon Taylor raising $235, third grade Tripp Taylor raising $235, and first grade Hannah Winghart raising $227.
