New water fountains are being installed in the high school and middle school.

The Oasis Water Coolers not only are water fountains, but have a spot for people to fill water bottles. The newest ones have an auto fill that also has a counter to show how many bottles are saved by using the filler.

Walton teacher Marcia Albrecht was recently chosen to take part in the James Madison Project, which is through the New York State Bar Association. Albrecht was one of about 30 educators from across the state to take part. [...click for more]

The Walton Warrior Booster Club wrestling camp, which was held in the middle school gym this week, was a huge success.

Eleven coaches and clinicians led the camp, which included 45 kids from around the state and Pennsylvania.

The Walton Central School District’s investment plan for the Smart Schools Bond Act has been approved by the Smart Schools Review Board.

The approval gives the district the ability to move forward making expenditures with the plan.

“We are happy our plan has been approved and are moving forward with our goals,” Superintendent Roger Clough said. “The new technology and security to our buildings will ultimately make our school safer four our students. Add that to the goals for technology in the classrooms and this grant is going to make it a better environment for our students and staff.”

Two Walton students, Justin Beers and Nick Lamoreaux, represented Walton Central School District at the Student Angler Federation New York State Fishing Championship on July 15 at Lake Champlain.

Beers, an incoming senior, and Lamoreaux, an incoming sophomore, placed sixth out of 12 teams with a weight limit of 10.46 pounds. The winning team from Copenhagen Central School caught their weight limit of 15.60 pounds.

The Midstate Athletic Conference has changed its scheduling software program to ScheduleGalaxy, which will allow easier access for people checking out Walton’s athletics schedules for 2017-18.

The move, which is an effort to make a more user-friendly public view of schedules, includes all 12 schools in the MAC.

The annual re-organizational and regular meetings of the Walton CSD Board of Education will be held at 7 p.m., Tuesday, July 11 in the BOE room.

It is anticipated the BOE may convene an executive session after re-organizational business has concluded, and prior to moving the regular business meeting.
