DATELINE: July 2010
Policy Change Being Considered
The Board of Education policy committee met and is recommending the below linked version of 5111 Policy for Enrollment of Non-Resident Students be adopted. The Board of Education had its first reading of the policy on July 6, 2010. The second reading/adoption is planned for August 10th.
The policy takes into account the very difficult financial times schools are in. Currently, our approximately 45 non-resident students generate $6,500 in tuition revenue versus approximately $70,000 of costs.
The policy, effective with the new 2010-11 school year, prohibits any new enrollments of non-resident students. All existing non-resident students are grandfathered and would continue to be educated at Walton in accordance with the policy rules. There is also an update to the policy regarding FORMER RESIDENTS allowing continuation of a Walton education.
If you have comments about this change, they may be e-mailed to the District Clerk, Corey Phraner, at cphraner@waltoncsd.org or speak at the public comment period of the Board of Education agenda.
