WALTON CHAPTER OF FFA  

The Walton Central School FFA Chapter has been recognized as a 2-Star Chapter in the National Chapter Awards Program.  Mrs. Tina James, FFA Advisor, received notice of this tremendous honor recently. 

This ranking is given to those chapters demonstrating excellence in developing their chapter, students and local community.  Chapter award winners will be recognized at the National Chapter Recognition Dinner  held during the 2010 National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, Indiana this fall.

Congratulations to Mrs. James and the Walton FFA!

Walton FFA members competed at the New York State Fair in August.

Nate Phoenix received Best in Show for his Walton FFA emblem.

Alice Young, New York State District 4 President, created this award winning display representing all chapters in District 4.

Live 2 Serve grant award resulted in the implementation of a composting and recycling program.  A Vermiculture (worms) unit is shown in this picture.

" The Walton football program unfortunately has canceled its Junior Varsity program this year. Actual participation was quite a bit lower than initial sign-ups, causing the program to adjust its levels of participation this year. The school will have a Varsity squad and seek to create two levels of modified football. Please see Athletic Director Gary Williams letter to parents and players regarding this update. "

Stephanie Rosa, science teacher, was named Teacher of the Year for 2009-2010.  Mrs. Rosa continually works to improve the Science Department and find new ways to engage students in science learning.  She currently teaches many different science electives and the enrollment in these courses has grown extensively. 

Mrs. Rosa is involved in several districtwide extra-curricular activities, mentors her peers, and was chosen for the past two years in a row by the DCMO/ONC BOCES Scholars as the teacher who most influenced them.  We are fortunate to have such a great science teacher working in the Walton Central School District.
