Walton voters approve 2017-18 budget
Walton Central School District voters went to the poll on Tuesday, May 16 and approved the district’s proposed 2017-18 school budget and proposed school bus lease.

The $20,530,797 budget increases spending 1.97 percent or $397,571 over the current year and carries a tax levy increase of 1.37 percent.

Voter Information 2017
Applications for absentee ballots may be applied for at the District Office. Applications must be received by the district clerk at least seven (7) days before the vote if the ballot is to be mailed to the absentee voter, or the day before the vote if the ballot is to be delivered personally to the absentee voter. Absentee ballots must be received in the Office of the Clerk of the District not later than 5:00 p.m. on the date of the vote.

Running for School Board: Petitions nominating candidates for the office of member of the Board of Education must be filed with the Clerk of the District between the hours of 9:00 a.m., and 4:00 p.m., and not later than 5:00 p.m. on April 17, 2017.

Qualified voters of the school district are: (1) a citizen of the United States of America, (2) eighteen years of age or older, and (3) resident within the school district for a period of thirty (30) days next preceding the annual meeting. Please bring proof of residency with you, such as a driver's license or a utility bill.

PROPOSITION 2 – Buses

Shall the Board of Education of the Walton Central School District be authorized to lease and expend, including incidental costs and financing, an amount not to exceed the estimated maximum cost of $275,000.00 for the entire term of the lease, and for a term not to exceed five (5) years, the following motor vehicles: two (2) sixty-five (65) passenger school buses and one (1) thirty-one (31) passenger wheel chair lift bus; and to levy real estate taxes in annual installments to pay for leasing the vehicles; and that in anticipation of such tax, to issue obligations of the District?
